Awesome show last night at the TLA in Philadelphia. The highlight had to be the amount of between-song talk Neil had with the crowd, extensive, especially during the encores.

Some good pre-show organizing for the listees, thanks Rob, Jim, Shelley, etc. I met the first 20 or so Finn fans in line at the TLA around 7:00 p.m. then headed over to the Euro cafe where ten list members were already sitting down to a fancy dinner and some drinks.

Soon after, we all walked over to the venue. It's great for a pack of 11 Finn fans to be walking together to the show even if it was only a 1/2 block away. Inside there were only about 2 rows of people loosely standing in front of the stage so it was obvious a close viewing position would be had for all.

Ebba Forsberg played for about 30 minutes. It was her guitarist's birthday and we did a good Happy Birthday for him, a nice surprise you could tell. Ebba is like a cross between Jewel/Tori Amos/Natalie Merchant; on quaaludes. Slow body movements, fitting for the music's tempo. She wore a full length tight black thing with roses on it, pretty, and her 36D breasts looked beautiful.

The set change was quick and Neil started with "Last One Standing," followed with a set you all are pretty familiar with. He did "I Got You," "One Step Ahead," and "Message To My Girl" from the Split Enz era.

Neil messed up "Sinner," going to the second verse first, stopped, blushed, said he "fucked up" and got back in the groove. And he talked, talked, talked to the crowd. He answered all questions, so many he said he thought he was on Oprah. He mentioned Paul Hester and Tim.

Seeing Liam there next to his Dad was a great sight to see. Liam shows no expressions or emotions and just plays. You can see Neil look over at Liam once in a while and his look is priceless, proud I'm sure.

Rob asked about T-Shirts (and to tie his shoe) and Neil said "Where's Peter Green?" rhetorically. During one of the encores a guy far in the back made LOUD demands for Neil to play a song for his friend. Taken aback, Neil asked who was his friend and what was the song. I forget who the friend was but the song was "When You Come" and he busted it apart like never before.

The man is great, awesome, and played for a little over 2 hours. After the show I saw Liam ride a bike out the front door heading down South Street. Winding down after the show I guess.

Enjoy your shows fans, he's coming to a town near you!
