I went to Neil Finn's concert at Brisbane's QPAC Concert Hall last night and it was absolutely brilliant!! To be honest, I've never been to a concert before, but it was worth every dollar!

Bic Runga was the supporting act. I think she warmed up the crowd nicely, and the crowd warmed to her as well.

Neil came on and was marvellous! If I can remember the song order, I think it went:

    "Last One Standing"

    "King Tide"

Both of those songs sounded AWESOME live!

He introduced Robert Moore to the crowd (who's from Brisbane), saying there's a lot of his friends in the audience that's watching his every move.

Neil wanted to play a song that he didn't get much opportunity to in Crowded House, and "dedicated" it to Pauline Hanson: "Not The Girl You Think You Are."

After the song he said it wasn't really dedicated to her, "We all know what sort of girl she is" and "When is this madness going to stop?"

"Sinner," which was supposed to be the crowd singalong, but I guess we were quiet that night.

When Neil introduced Liam, some guys in the crowd shouted "We love you Liam!" to which Neil responded "Stay away from them". Someone up the back shouted "Go the full monty," but Neil didn't hear that, and sort of stared blankly, turned to Robert and asked "What did he say, Robert? You're from Brisbane, you should understand that." Robert didn't hear it either, and spouted something about how brilliant Neil is.

"Truth," which turned into the chorus of "Weather With You" at the end.

"Tokyo" -- the story goes Tim and Neil were in Japan, and this Japanese singer had this huge hoard of drugs, in the country were Paul McCartney was busted at the airport. Tim and Neil tried to keep up with the life this guy was living, but couldn't manage. "At least he got this song out of it," he said. "I hope this song is available (or will be available) to buy."

At one point the band went off stage so that Neil could play a few songs solo (and the band wanted a drink).

    "Distant Sun"

    "Fall At Your Feet"

The band started to walk back onstage, but Neil sent them off again to play one more song (on the keyboard).

"Hole In The River," which sounded good solo. Neil seems quite a good keyboardist (but I'm not the best judge).

    "Souvenir"

    "Sister Madly"

    "Loose Tongue"

    "Try Whistling This"

    "She Will Have Her Way"

    "Twisty Bass"

"I Got You" (which brought a big roar from the crowd)

    "Faster Than Light"

"Don't Dream It's Over," which was another attempt at a crowd singalong, which actually went well.

    "Astro<"/P>

    And finally, "Addicted."

Someone had shouted a request for "Message To My Girl," and there were requests for "Oldies" and "Split Enz," but Neil only played "I Got You." He also left out "Dream Date."

He said "goodnight" twice in the concert, where people clapped for several minutes (or what *seemed* like several minutes) and stamped their feet until a cheer when he came back on stage. Finally, he received a standing ovation at the end of the concert (which was satisfying, because it rounded off nicely).

The lighting didn't detract from the music, but seemed to enhance the ambience of the hall.

By the way, Neil's hair was "back to normal", but with a slight fringe, and it looked a bit blonde (but it must have been the lighting).
