I went in to the show in BrizVegas not having heard Bic Runga before and wasn't expecting fireworks. Yet from the first song I was enthralled. I had never heard such a voice before and was mighty impressed. So impressed I went and bought her CD Drive the next day. She moved me immensely and I can only say that a CD collection is very empty without her CD.

The guy at HMV said the Sony rep had been in (who had attended the previous evenings show) and was equally impressed as I with Bic Runga. I have to say my fave Bic songs were "Drive," "Sway," and "Delight."

When Neil arrived on stage later, I was on cloud nine. The highlights for me were "Astro" near the end, as I had been waiting for Neil to play it all night. "Hole in the River" had me on another plane when Neil's voice soared out into the concert hall. "She Will Have Her Way" truly came alive on stage.

What gives me the rush at Finn gigs is hearing songs live for the first time that I have only previously heard on CD. I really got a kick out of seeing the guys on stage appear as if they were really enjoying themselves. I don't think the guy from County Cork ever wiped the smile off his face the whole time.

I must have been in the dark about Liam playing, as I kept wondering who the kid to the right was until Neil announced it was Liam. The drummer also preceeded to grin like a cheshire cat the whole time. As did Neil.

I have been to shows that were quite mechanical and had no audience participation which I came away from feeling empty. But as with all Finn gigs I came away happy and high. Heck, I don't think I'll ever lose the memory of the buzz from the Corner Hotel show in Nov '96. I will have the buzz from the concert last week for a long time to come also.
