by Ryan Hunter After a 5 hour drive from Nelson to Christchurch, I was thrilled to see Neil play at the first concert of his that I have been to. The setlist: 1. Last One Standing 2. King Tide (Someone yelled out Dr Livingstone, to which Neil replied "I only know the second verse, I'll learn it for when I'm next in Chch, but 10 points for obscurity", he more or less said that. 3. Sinner 4. Not the Girl You Think You Are (He said he was going to play this a lot because he didn't get to with Crowded House) 5. Truth 6. Tokyo (Explained the story behind the song, quite funny) 7. Private Universe 8. Faster than light 9. Fall at Your Feet (played solo, on an acoustic) 10. Distant Sun (as above) 11. Loose Tongue 12. Souvenir (He said that it was written by Liam and himself) 13. Message to My Girl (solo on piano) 14. Try Whistling This (he attempting whistling it to start with but gave it away after a couple of attempts, played piano) 15. Suffer Never (Brilliant, lengthy guitar solo at the end of the song which was truly amazing) 16. She Will Have Her Way (Dedicated to Gretchen, from the audience, who mentioned it was her birthday after Neil said it was Tim's birthday) ENCORE 17. Mean To Me (Neil played bass solo and sung two verses and two choruses, huge applause, I felt like yelling out "Whadaya know!" but didn't, damn it. Oh well) 18. Twisty Bass (Neil on bass) 19. I Got You (another huge crowd response to this one, played 2 guitar solos) 20. Dream Date (He said it was about lying on the couch thinking about turning 40) 21. Don't Dream It's Over (played acoustically, with crowd singalong, standing ovation) 22. Addicted (Played piano) |
