YOU.YOU
by Peter Alejandro
Cortes
I'm not talking to you
because
back in 16th Century India
when I was in charge of the
laborers,
well, you were too good for me
now weren't you?
And in our next life
when I was a woman in
antebellum Mississippi
because it would take me a few
births and rebirths
to get it right
you,
you were horrible to me.
And then when we returned
to the wheel of life again
in Europe
it was after World
War 1 and I wanted to
make love
you were too busy
you were getting a
Modern to bang Mr. BIG SHOT.
And the bottom line is that
I'm not talking
to you because I keep having to
come back.
