Sorceress of the Sea

evening sylvan
bathes in the
river under the
wings of a gryphon
who sings a Nordic
melody carried on
the wind to a cave
in the sea where
sorceress reads
tarot by the dim
light of her candle.
Between the empress
and four of pentacles
lies hidden card
foretelling her fate:
she will die in the
house of marrow.
