IAN MASTERS:
But what do you specifically know about the services rendered?
How did Brian .....

MICHAEL RICONOSCIUTO:
I was asked about my contacts. And I was asked to list my contacts
in Iran. Okay? Some of them were low-level. Some of them were not.
I knew the brother of the secretary to the Ayatollah [Khomeini].
I had contact with the Ayatollah and his entourage when they were
in France, before the fall of the Shah, because I knew the [CIA]
station boss over there and I was assigned over there. I had tipped-off
the Ayatollah that there was a renegade operation to murder him.
Okay? And I can document that. So I had contacts, and I had some
chips coming. And Nichols wanted me to list everything that I could
consider as an "asset" in that part of the world -- which I did.
The next thing I know, [Sen. Paul] Laxalt [Reagan's crony] wants to
talk to me. And Laxalt is a personal family friend. Okay? And he
prevails upon me to get directly involved. So Paul Marosca and I
and Fred Alvarez, we join the Young Republicans, and we got involved.
And somebody that I had had a lot of contact with in the past,
[Michael] Allen May, an attorney from San Francisco -- he was the
custodian of the CREEP [Committee to RE-Elect the President] funds.
I was asked to effect a transfer from where the money was in Mexico
to Luxembourg, which I did by electronic transfer. It was a very
complex convoluted deal. Now I had been involved in CREEP ever
since I worked with [Egal] Bud Croag [Nixon White House assistant]
back in the `70s. My father and Pat Moriarty ..... Have you heard
of Pat Moriarty? One of the biggest political scandals ever in
California .... which really wasn't because he pled guilty to
things which other people on similar charges have had overturned
in the Supreme Court. And it's our position that Nichols and
Wackenhut forced these cases on Moriarty, and forced the wheels of
law enforcement to move against Moriarty. It was a trumped-up deal.
We were in the fireworks business. Fireworks are sold by local
option. And we were pressing for a state law to make it uniform.
Because for so many years, over twenty-five years, we had sold
fireworks by local option -- and the fireworks season is so short
-- we had a lobbying group that was second to none in the State of
California. Okay? There was no ulterior purpose there other than
to secure the sales area for us to sell our products on a yearly
basis. And we sold our products through local charitable
organizations like the Boy Scouts, the Lions Club -- as an example.
So we would use them to front for us -- to lobby for local option to
sell fireworks. You know what I mean by local option?

IAN MASTERS:
Sure. But you were really onto something that was very
interesting. You were saying that you transferred funds hidden in
Mexico back into .....

MICHAEL RICONOSCIUTO:
Well let me get back into my relationship with the Nixon group.
We were politically potent in the State of California. Okay?
My dad and Pat Moriarty were very close to Nixon. We bought our
fireworks from China. Okay? We are the ones who effected relations
between the United States and the People's Republic of China when
we had no diplomatic ties. It was through our people, coming and
going. We were de facto handling diplomacy between the two countries.
My dad and Pat are the ones who set up the first exchange of
formal diplomatic ties with the People's Republic of China. Okay?
I mean, that is an undisputed fact. Moriarty and Nixon and my dad
are all together in business. That is also an undisputed fact.
What's happened to us in tying us into this S&L thing, and
destroying our banks ..... For example, one of our banks was
eighty million dollars in the black. And it was the day before we
had it sold. They came in and raided it. Okay? We didn't have a
statement from the books until four months later. By that time,
there were a lot of time-sensitive deals that had completely come
unraveled. And the bank was in the red. Part of the threat that I
had received before I filed that affidavit in the Inslaw case was
that we were going to be charged with that. In fact, at the same
time that I was arrested on the drug charges, my other associates
were arrested on S&L violations, and as S&L kingpins in illegal
activity. And that case is also pending.

IAN MASTERS:
Well let me get back to where you transferred, by sophisticated
electronic means, money from the Committee to Re-Elect the President,
Nixon's hidden funds in Mexico to Luxembourg for the express
purpose of what?

MICHAEL RICONOSCIUTO:
Well, the incoming religious regime had an uphill battle,
politically. They were not the only game in town. And they were
short of funds. You have to realize that the United States was
bankrolling the Ayatollah's exile in the south of France. And they
needed money. So this was a sweetener because this money originally
came from the Shah of Iran as a gift to Nixon. And this is a gift
that everybody in the business is aware of. Okay? And what was
left of it they were just going to give it to the Ayatollah's
group. And it was poetic justice. I mean, they really took to it
well as a stroke of poetic justice. They were gung-ho. To me, the
mention of the money and/or technical assistance to delay the
release of the hostages was never mentioned. Okay? It was Paul
Marosca and Fred Alvarez who got that idea.

IAN MASTERS:
But then what did they do? Did they run with the idea?

MICHAEL RICONOSCIUTO:
No, they caught on. They didn't originate the idea. They caught on.

IAN MASTERS:
Oh, I see!

MICHAEL RICONOSCIUTO:
They said: Hey -- there's something unholy going on here. Okay?
At the same time we had Rocco Zangari and Thomas Marza on the
Reservation talking about the Mob. There's a book called THE LAST
MAFIOSO. And Tommy Marza is right in there with the best of them
at one of Frank Sinatra's shows. It's a picture of it -- a group
shot that's shown in the book.
                        (to be continued)

This is one of countless stories unveiling the deeply corrupted
and subverted state of our theoretically democratic Government.
This story makes disgustingly obvious the fact that patriotism
is not the waving of flags, the tying of yellow ribbons and the
supporting of the Government, just because it happens to be ours.
You don't support cancer just because you happen to have it.
Patriotism is telling the truth to the people of our country
in order that they may unite to conquer the anti-democratic
cancer that is gradually destroying ours and our children's
freedom. So please post the installments of this ongoing series
to other bulletin boards, and post hardcopies in public places,
both on and off campus. That would be a truly patriotic deed.
