But if anywhere there have been some improvements, it is in treating PCP. So that was kind of surprising, as well, because more and more people are living with PCP. It was once the main killer of AIDS patients, and now it seems to be more and more treatable. And I just think that he eliminated ALL the things going for him, of the natural kind, that might have aided in his living with this. It's really sad because I know that he had the information. I believe that when you GIVE UP decision- making and defer it to a medical "expert", you place yourself at a terrible risk. They do NOT know .... they know VERY little about health. And they certainly know very little about helping people with AIDS, which is evidenced over the whole [AIDS] crisis. So, I think that you're doing very important work, Gary, and it's sad that he couldn't benefit from it. GARY NULL: Well, let's hope that others WILL learn. MICHAEL ELLNER: And warn Magic Johnson. But Dr. Morton Walker is on the line now. Welcome to the program, Dr. Walker. DR. MORTON WALKER: Hello, Gary. It's a pleasure to be with you and your guests. GARY NULL: Thank you for being patient and standing by. Now you have seen the work of a doctor in Germany who has been using a carnivora [an insectivorous plant]. Could you explain the nature of this work and what evidence, that can be validated to meet current standards of validation, concerning persons with AIDS or immune-suppression and this therapy? DR. WALKER: Alright. The physician whom I visited in Germany is Helmut Keller, M.D. Let me say, right off, I am not an expert on AIDS. I am a full-time freelance medical journalist, and I investigate various alternative methods of healing. And so, I was led to look for some alternatives in either eastern medicine or new age medicine. But in this case, here we have come to an industrialized country where a venus's-flytrap is the source of a product ..... [words lost due to an interruption on the phone line] ..... carnivora. The venus's-flytrap is the dionaea muscipula, which is the scientific name. The venus's-flytrap gives off a fluid or extract to digest the worms, flies and other bugs that it eats, on a regular basis. It has an ability to dissolve these protein toxic agents which it actually uses for food. There is this physician, Helmut Keller, M.D. He is in Badstebben [JD: Someone please resolve the correct spelling of this city and inform me of it by e-mail, so that I can post it in the next episode of this series.] Germany. He is an oncologist [cancer specialist], and he worked at the Boston University School of Medicine, in their laboratory. He was the oncologist on duty with the laboratory experimentations, among animals, for cancer. And he utilized the extract of the venus's-flytrap as an experiment in the elimination of solid tumors in gerbils. Well, it worked very well and people then started to want the venus's-flytrap extract for their cancer treatments. And he wasn't able to do that in the United States because this is a non-FDA [Food & Drug Administration] -approved product. And so, he went back to Germany. And he now is extensively treating cancer patients with carnivora. Well, AIDS patients came to him too, just sort of serendipitously, I guess you might say. Anyway, he treated a couple of AIDS patients very successfully, even to his own surprise. And he now has some AIDS patients under treatment with carnivora, and they are thriving. They are doing exceedingly well. The fact is that Dr. Keller learned that various strengths of carnivora formulations work for all diseases in which immune- stimulation and modulation are required. Besides having the ability to reduce the growth of cancer tissue, carnivora increases the number and activity of sick persons' T helper cells and other immune system components. I went to Germany because I heard about Dr. Keller's work, and I did subsequently write articles about his work -- in fact, five articles: four in clinical journals and one, a magazine article in NATURAL LIVING Magazine. The result is that now a number of American patients have traveled to Germany, and a number of American patients are acquiring carnivora from the laboratory that makes the carnivora, and they are using it in the United States under a protocol that Dr. Keller provides them, at no charge. They take the carnivora that they purchase, imported, to their own physicians. The physicians, to stay out of trouble [with the Pharmaceutical Industry-controlled U.S. Food & Drug Administration], are not the prescribing physicians of carnivora, but they become the American technicians who administer the carnivora to the AIDS patients, in accordance with the protocol that Dr. Keller provides. And these AIDS patients ARE getting better. GARY NULL: Well, that's what I would like to see. I would hope that, at some point, Dr. Keller is able to have enough data from the patients to do a study or to publish the results so that we could see their before-and-after blood chemistries and the various risk factor indicators in their blood.
