ERNK Statement On The Death Of Kurdish Guerrilla Ronahi (Andrea Wolf) On October 24, 1998, there was a clash in Van, in the Catak district of Kelaxte region, during which People's Liberation Army of Kurdistan (ARGK) guerrilla Ronahi (Andrea Wolf) was captured alive by Turkish special teams forces. She was taken prisoner and later executed. Our comrade Ronahi came to Kurdistan as an internationalist and fought on the Kurdish side against fascism and exploitation. She fell in this struggle. We bow our heads in respectful memory of her, and we would like to stress once again the necessity of remembering our martyrs. In January 1995, our party signed the Geneva Conventions on the Laws of War from 1949, as well as the Additional Protocols from 1977, and we promised to adhere to these responsibilities. Just like before this date, we strictly abided by the these regulations. On various occasions, Turkish soldiers were taken captive by our guerrillas, and they were later released and handed over to the International Red Cross. On December 8, 1996, five Turkish soldiers were handed over to a delegation from Turkey which included Akin Birdal, chairman of the Human Rights Association (IHD), Fetullah Erbas, an MP from the Refah Party, and a representative of the Mazlum-Der Association. Although we have fulfilled our responsibilities, the Turkish Republic has not even signed the 1977 Additional Protocols. Every day, the Turkish army violates international agreements. The execution of ARGK guerrilla Andrea Wolf is the latest example of this. We call on all responsible, signatory nations and international institutions to remain attentive to the Geneva Conventions on the Laws of War. When it comes to war crimes, the Turkish Republic is one of the most offensive countries. We demand an end to this, and we want those responsible for war crimes to be brought in front of a war crimes tribunal.
