Review by Carlos Andrade (andrade@swlavc.dnet.ge.com)

The band was absolutely fantastic! Neil's voice was in great shape. [Kare Kare]: Great song!... The chorus had something about "valley by the moon". I really liked ["Private Universe"]. It was even better than the other new song ["Kare Kare"], except for the drums. They were very loud and overpowering, I wonder if this was Youth's idea. All the band members were out enjoying the music of the other artists. Nick seemed to like the Stereo MC's, while Neil was listening to Indian-British singer Sheila Chandra. Nobody seemed to recognize them, until it started getting closer to their show time, and more CH fans started arriving. I talked to Neil, after Sheila Chandra had finished her set. What a pleasure it was to talk to him! We talked about kids (I had my daughter with me, wearing a SE t-shirt, of course) His family is coming to the US for the last week of WOMAD. They have finished their first video, Distant Sun. It will not be shown in the US until next year.... And yes, he's heard about our list. Other bits: The recorded music played before the CH set was very good. I have no idea who it was. If you go to the show check it out. CH had incense burning on both sides of the stage. Every artist in WOMAD had about a 45 minute set. In the program there is a one-page ad for the new album. A photograph of the band in semi-darkness, with the legend "The new album coming in 1994". :-(
