"WOWWWWW!!!! It is about one o'clock in the morning and Gaby and I are writing this having just returned from the CROWDED HOUSE CONCERT - It was BRILLIANT!
Gaby - "We are so hyped up that there is no point even attempting to sleep..."
The concert started with When You Come - "Neil sang this whilst the other members jumped on the stage." (whatever that is supposed to mean!). This was followed by a number of songs, including "tons from the first album - ie. Hole In The River, Don't Dream It's Over etc...then Paul came out into the audience - The rest of the band took the piss out of him for looking so small - he picked on this guy in the audience - and asked him some very funny personal questions about the girl sitting next to him. Then Nick Seymour shouted from the stage - `Come on Paul, sing your song...'", which he did - Italian Plastic.
This was followed by Sister Madly, Tall Trees, an extended version of It's Only Natural, and a "way better" version of In The Lowlands.
"They got this bloke from the audience to come up and sing - we couldn't decide if he was a plant or not - but he started Four Seasons In One Day, then the audience (us!) joined in and then the band, when Neil took over...
"Now was the highlight of the evening - the moment we had all been waiting for - CHOCOLATE CAKE! You may not have thought it possible to be a better version than the one on tape but believe me there is - we heard it!!!
"There was this groovy intro by Neil - `A very special man is going to have his birthday at midnight tonight. We'd like him to come and sing a song for us tonight...my brother Tim.'...Tim sang Weather With You...
"Next came How Will You Go - which Tim and Neil wrote from the stories they used to tell each other when they were little."
Chris and I can't figure out what this next bit is about...any ideas? The next song was Mean To Me "taught us New Zealand Moon Words - `Te Awamutu' sure you know the meaning!"
Sometime before the end, "Neil came into the audience and sang his own a cappella solo...They ended with a song we didn't know - but it was brilliant." Could it have been Distant Sun?
