Set List

(Not in order. Catrin: "They started with Kare Kare + finished with Fall At Your Feet, but other than that the order is hazy.")

Review by Catrin Hughes (C.F.Hughes@mcs.salford.ac.uk)

As you can see a lot of the set came from the new album, and a lot of the old stuff wasn't played partly because no one requested it. There were no paper aeroplanes ( me + my friends had accidently left them in the car) and the only true requests were actually refused. Killeye got a swift reply of 'F**k Off' from Neil and the guy who yelled 'Chocolate Cake' was simply given a huge chocolate cake. The band was very talkative but the audience wasn't , their main participation came in giving Neil + Paul a neck massage + back rub. I must admit that I did take part in this highly embarrassing activity since I was standing right in front of neil in the front row + right next to a crowd of screaming girlies so I couldn't really get out of it. It was fun anyway.

This was a great venue to see the show in, one of those theatres that are all standing downstairs and seated up in the circles so you can stand in the front row (as I did) and be right next to the band. (This was also an advantage for the excellent support band Dada who got a far more noticeable to their set than they did in the all seated Manchester Apollo).

The Crowdies were all in high spirits especially Paul who had trouble shutting up especially since he was hassled by the audience between each song. Nick and Neil composed a little tune called 'I'm a little fruit loop' but couldn't come up with any lyrics for it. Probably a good thing too, since I've a feeling that any lyrics would not have been printable.

Since the audience wasn't really requesting much, Neil sang an excellent version of the Kinks 'Sunday Afternoon' and a snatch of 'You Sexy Thing' appeared in It's Only natural.
