Briefly - highlights:

*Neil's attempt to join Tim in radio-mikedom by having Dougald gaffer tape his mike to the side of his face. It was never going to work but left him with a very fetching black tape headress.

*Finns plus bass player!!! gave the songs a fantastic sound, especially Suffer Never and Dirty Creature, which was piano, bass and drums. Kiss the Road was great live - better than the album version IMHO.

*Fabulous lighting for the whole show - Sharon's a genius.

*Tim's drumming was really good too, not at all as amatuerish as some people make out - different approach, yes, but not actually bad.

*The end bit in TTG, you know, 'check your hat in at the stand' was changed into a bit about the recent TV debate (won by PJK BTW Paul :), since it is election time down here.

*My friend being surprised that the show was as brilliant as I said it would be :)

The entire show was great - audience loved it. Dave Dobbyn was really good too and also got a great reception.

Nearly forgot the fashion report, in case anyone's interested - Neil was wearing black jeans, brown and white patterned shirt and black jacket. New hair much much nicer. Tim was wearing a greyish brown suit, white shirt, no shoes, short back and sides and radio mike :)

Didn't much care for the State Theatre.

In general a very enjoyable show. I loved Neil's Jimi Hendrix impersonation in "Suffer Never" and some other songs. Light effects were good as well, especially in "Niwhai" where the lighting was turned on a off in step with the music.

The boys also had a home movie running while playing WWY. We all cheered when we saw Neil as a small baby wrapped in a light blue bunny rug. Neil was jesting about how most of the footage featured Tim (Tim was the one that edited it)

Tim was still performing barefoot. But that did not stop him from playing the drums loud.

I thought some of the slow songs, like 'Last Day.." and "Where is my soul", were rushed a bit.

Dave Dobbyn was there to support singing his painful truth ditties.

I don't know if it's just me, but the audience seemed to consist of alot of old, yuppy, snobs.
