Saw the brothers Finn last night in Leeds. Can't recall the setlist but just to say that it started with one great song, Only talking sense, and ended with another, Paradise. Highlights were a slowed down version of History never repeats and Persuasion where Tim managed to cock up the words to the first verse.(His words not mine) The audience got him through and he carried on right to the end. Apparently the was the first time they have performed this song on the current tour and during it Tim played guitar and drums at the same time, no mean feat. All in all Brilliant !!!!!!!!!!!!
Tom Damms
Dave Hathaway and Tom Damms here. Just got back from Leeds which hosted the Finn Brothers! God they were brilliant, just superb. The venue only held 350 and they said how good it was playing a small, intimate gig. They were supported by Dave Dobbyn who played about 6 or 7 songs, had never heard him before and he was good.
Then the Boys came out, Neil in a black and white shirt, dark grey or black suit trousers (!) and Tim in a brown suit. They started off with Only Talking Sense, then made Dave happy by playing Poor Boy. Oh yes, guess who was selling the t-shirts? None other than Neil`s youngest son! I asked for one and recognised a New Zealand accent, then the bloke behind me said "Has your dad got any annoying habits?" To which (Elroy is it?) replied that he always sticks his tongue out or something!
Anyway, it was just brilliant, we were on the third row, right down Tim`s nose. Neil had an argument with someone in the audience as he was caught smoking in the wings, came out with the fag on stage. Neil said it was the first time he had smoked on stage, to which this bloke said "Rubbish, you did it in Sheffield" Neil retorted "bulls**t" so the bloke was silenced by this stroke of genius. Wonderful stuff, great music and brilliant humour from the boys. Weather With You nearly took the roof off, and Tims dancing to Mood Swinging Man was inredible.
Best night of our lives, thank you Tim and Neil, all you going to the Union Chapel, you are in for one hell of a night. Excellent.
